2019.03.25 Otani Ware
Otani ware is a pottery representative of Tokushima with a history of about 230 years in the city of Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture. It is famous for how it’s made by using the “lying down potter’s wheel” method (the assistant lies down under the work table and kicks to make the potter’s wheel turn) when making large pieces of pottery. It is said that the size of the “climbing kiln” that fired these potteries is the largest in Japan. There are many opportunities to experience Otani ware, so please come and join us.
